Quality training matters — and we get it. No one wants to invest time or money in a course that doesn’t deliver, and choosing the right one shouldn’t feel like a gamble. It should be a confident decision backed by clear standards.
Behind the scenes at SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), a whole system works quietly to safeguard your learning. Careful checks and multiple quality checkpoints run continuously in the background for SSG-funded courses — so you can focus on what matters.
Here's a closer look at the measures that keep quality assurance in check:
🫖 The TEA: Training providers and training courses aren't picked at random. They are thoroughly and regularly assessed.
🍵 Quality of Training Providers are regularly assessed
Training providers must duly undergo the holistic Training Provider Quality Assessment (TPQA) when asked by SSG. The TPQA ensures that Registered Training Providers (RTPs) adopt a systemic approach to implement strong processes and training methods for industry relevant courses. Through TPQA, SSG aims to uplift the overall quality and enhance training outcomes for learners. TPQA will result in a quality grade, with Grade 1 being the best, and Grade 2 better than Grade 3.
And these grades matter! RTPs that do not undergo the TPQA, fail to submit documents or information as requested by SSG, or are unable to attain the minimum Grade 2 requirement will have their RTP status ⚠️TERMINATED. This means they will no longer be eligible to offer SkillsFuture-supported training courses and must wait 12 months before reapplying for RTP status.
🍵 We keep tabs on course materials and assessments too
Since January 2025, the Course Quality Check (CQC) ensures that SSG reviews the course materials before they are rolled out more widely. The CQC ensures course materials developed are able to achieve learning outcomes, underpinned with sound andragogy.
🍵 All to make sure that only the quality courses get renewed
Since October 2024, courses in the lowest quantile of TRAQOM Quality Ratings will be expired ahead of the course validity end date. RTPs will have three months to review areas for improvement for the course. During this period, RTPs shall not submit any new WSQ or Non-WSQ course applications that reference the unique skill(s) that has been expired ahead of the course validity end date.
We further strengthened our checks in January 2025 with the Enhanced Course Renewal Criteria, which goes further by considering additional factors. RTPs must also meet the following standards:
🍵 That's not all — don't just take our word for it. See what others are saying through unfiltered reviews!
The Training Quality and Outcomes Measurement (TRAQOM) ratings captures learner feedback that goes into quality monitoring for courses listed on the MySkillsFuture Portal. It encompasses two TRAQOM surveys:
- Course Quality Survey (right after the course): Captures learners' perception of the training quality
- Jobs/Careers Impact Survey (3 months later): Captures learners' perception of how the course has impacted their work and careers
We encourage all learners to check out the TRAQOM ratings and reviews before making a decision to sign up for any course.
🫖 The Final Steep:
Concerns about substandard courses are valid, and the various measures such as TPQA, CQC, Enhanced Renewal Criteria addresses this directly. The bottom line is simple: if a training provider doesn't deliver, they don't get to stay.
Providers who consistently fall short get removed, and the various quality measures help ensure that what remains are quality courses tailored to meet learner outcomes.
