New Multi-agency Effort To Ramp Up Transformation Of Singapore’s Training And Adult Education Sector
SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) together with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL) announced a slate of new initiatives as part of a joint effort to accelerate the transformation of Singapore’s Training and Adult Education (TAE) sector. The initiatives were launched at the biennial Adult Learning Symposium 2020 (ALS2020 Live), to be held over two days on 13 & 14 August 2020. The conference, being held online for the first time this year, is organised by IAL in partnership with SSG as part of SkillsFuture Month 2020, in support of SGUnited Jobs and Skills.

More Opportunities For Singaporeans Through New SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes
To provide Singaporeans with more work-study opportunities in emerging and growth sectors, four new SkillsFuture Work-Study Programmes will be introduced by Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), offering more than 140 places over the next two years. One of these is the first SkillsFuture Work-Study Degree Programme to be delivered in a Place-and-Train mode.

Media Factsheet On SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme
The SGUnited Mid-Career Pathways Programme was introduced in July 2020 as part of the SGUnited Jobs and Skills Package. It will provide 14,500 traineeships and training opportunities for mid-career jobseekers to gain meaningful industry-relevant experience that will better position them to take on employment as the economy recovers. Under the programme, individuals can choose either an attachment or a full-time training course.

Skills For The Future-Ready Workforce
Bosch, through the Bosch Rexroth Training Centre (BRRTC), has launched its first Industry 4.0 programme in Singapore to train technicians and engineers to be ready for the factory of the future. The inauguration of the centre’s first training programme today with Singapore Polytechnic (SP), was witnessed by Mr. Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State for Education and Trade and Industry, together with Mr. Martin Hayes, President of Bosch in Southeast Asia, Mr. Roland Keller, Regional President of Bosch Rexroth in ASEAN & Oceania, Mr Ong Tze-Ch’in, Chief Executive of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), and senior representatives from the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK), SP, EDB, and JTC.

SkillsFuture Month 2020
The SkillsFuture Month 2020, held from 17 July 2020 to 16 August 2020, will feature a series of mostly virtual and a few physical events. These events will cater to Singaporeans at different stages of their careers and life, and share more about the range of training opportunities for jobseekers, especially mid-careerists, who have been affected by the economic impact of COVID-19. Organised by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and various partners, the SkillsFuture Month supports the efforts of the National Jobs Council.

Additional Measures To Ensure Social Distancing For Continuing Education And Training In Response To COVID-19
With effect from 7 April 2020 until 4 May 2020 (inclusive), SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will require all Continuing Education and Training (CET) to be conducted via virtual classrooms and other forms of e-learning. This is in line with the additional national measures announced in response to COVID-19 on 3 April 2020.
