Multi-Agency Effort To Support Private Bus Industry Impacted By COVID-19
The COVID-19 situation has impacted the private bus industry, which includes around 5,000 private bus operators, managing around 13,500 private buses (including coaches) operating tour bus services, school bus services, worker transport services, and ad-hoc chartering services. These key segments complement Singapore’s public bus transportation services. Overall, the tourism business has experienced a 60% decline, as all bookings for private bus services have been cancelled until June 2020.

Additional $120 Million To Help Taxi And Private Hire Car Drivers Affected By Covid-19 Second Tranche Of Point-To-Point Support Package (PPSP2)
In February 2020, the PPSP was introduced to provide targeted assistance to the Point-to-Point (P2P) sector and its drivers who have been impacted by COVID-19. Since then, the Government has received much feedback from the taxi and Private Hire Car (PHC) industry, which we have carefully considered. In particular, P2P operators have observed a sustained drop in ridership of over ~20%, and drivers have seen significant declines in their earnings. As the COVID-19 outbreak continues, the impact on P2P drivers and operators will become more pronounced.

Selected Training Providers Will Allow Singapore Citizens To Use Their One-Off SkillsFuture Credit Top-Up From 1 April
From 1 April 2020, the Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and NTUC LearningHub will be coming forward to enable all eligible Singapore Citizens aged 25 years and above to have advance access to their one-off SkillsFuture Credit top-up of $500. The top-up was announced in Budget 2020. This is ahead of SkillsFuture Singapore’s official implementation date of 1 October. The advance access will enable Singapore Citizens to use their SkillsFuture Credit top-up immediately to pick up job-relevant skills to boost their employability in view of the current challenging economic conditions due to COVID-19.

Food Services And Retail Sectors Get Enhanced Training Support Package To Help Mitigate The Impact Of COVID-19
To help mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses, SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will be providing an enhanced training support package to help companies defray business costs and upskill workers in the food services and retail sectors. This initiative is part of the $4 billion Stabilisation and Support Package that was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat during Budget 2020. The support package for the two sectors was unveiled by Mr Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade & Industry and Ministry of Education today.

Air Transport Sector Gets Enhanced Training And Support Package To Upskill Workers And Save Jobs
